The nearly complete new facility for the Downingtown Library will be ready for occupancy by early January 2015. The Thorndale-Downingtown Rotary Club is planning and coordinating the move from Lancaster Avenue to Wallace Avenue. The Rotary Club is asking the community to participate by families bringing “little red wagons” to move the boxes of books from the old Library to the new on Saturday January 3rd with a snow date of Saturday January 10th.
The Rotary will use the event to help the fund raising efforts for the new library by asking participants to get sponsors for their “little red wagons”. Also, those that cannot participate but want to be a part of this historic event can sponsor a box for the move by donating $5 to the Library. Prizes will be awarded for decorated wagons, wagon names, and other categories to be announced.
Help will be solicited from the community in the form of corporate sponsors, help from community organizations, merchants who would be willing to donate prizes or provide “grub” for the wagon train.
Contact the Thorndale-Downingtown Rotary Club at [email protected] or [email protected] to provide contact information if you can help in any way or wish to be a box sponsor. Registration forms and other information will be available by November 15th. Information of your interest can also be provided to the Downingtown Library. Or click here to register!
